SK Hynix held its '2026 Happiness Sharing Fund' ceremony at its Icheon campus on the 15th, marking a significant step in its commitment to corporate social responsibility. The fund, which raised 2.37 billion KRW through employee donations and a corporate Matching Grant, reflects a long-term dedication to philanthropy. Since 2011, the company has contributed a total of 37 billion KRW, establishing a sustainable model for giving back to the community.
The initiative focuses on solving societal challenges through the integration of AI technology. The 'HEINStein' program, designed to nurture future AI talent, is scaling up significantly this year to provide training, olympiads, and career mentorship to approximately 5,000 youth. By establishing additional 'Happiness AI Study Labs,' the company aims to reduce the educational gap in regional communities.
In response to the challenges of an aging population, SK Hynix is also strengthening its AI-powered senior care services. The 'Senior AI Memory Care' program utilizes dedicated applications and psychological counseling booths to help elderly citizens maintain cognitive function and emotional stability. Following a successful pilot with 130 participants last year, the program is expanding to provide a more robust social safety net.
The company continues its 'Happiness GPS' project, which provides wearable smartwatches to help track the location of individuals with dementia or developmental disabilities to prevent wandering. This effort highlights how IoT technology can serve as a vital tool for protecting vulnerable populations. These AI-driven social services rely on the stable funding provided by the company's long-standing initiatives.
The ceremony featured a special lecture by Sean, a singer widely known for his extensive charitable work, who spoke on the theme 'The Present is a Gift.' Following the lecture, employees joined Sean for a '365RUN' event along the company's internal running course. The 3.65km run served as a symbolic reminder that collective action is a vital part of everyday life.
CEO Kwak Noh-jung of SK Hynix emphasized the importance of the employees' dedication and reaffirmed the company's goal to extend its influence beyond semiconductor manufacturing. The firm aims to grow into an entity that connects people and creates social value through technology. This initiative serves as a compelling example of how technological progress can foster a more compassionate society.
